The project began in 2021 after the chassis was donated to us, everything that is added is completely developed by students, including the steering mechanism, mounts, electronic boards, vision, location and navigation algorithms.
The objective of the car project is to give tours around the campus autonomously, following a pre-established route. We collaborate with ZF, where some of us are interns in the company, but we also provide the team with technical support as required. The team is made up of more than 25 students in the areas of mechanics, electronics and embedded, vision, control, navigation and localization, from different multidisciplinary engineering fields. The project began in 2021 after the chassis was donated to us, everything that is added is completely developed by students, including the steering mechanism, mounts, electronic boards, vision, location and navigation algorithms. It was developed as a project for the 80th anniversary, where it had its debut on September 4, 2023. It was presented to Tec and ZF executives, where the car took an autonomous tour of the "El Borrego" parking lot and concluded with an event in the La Carreta pavilion, where what the car was and the work behind it was explained. We are currently working to strengthen the car, improve the systems that already exist and implement new ones that make it reliable and innovative. Our next delivery is a presentation and demonstration at the FINSA industrial park in Guadalupe, NL, where ZF's new manufacturing and R&D plant will be.
